Hubbub team member Terry Cooper has just landed the role as Baker Street super sleuth Sherlock Homes in a forthcoming audio drama by Misfits Audio.
Terry is excited about playing the eponymous detective: "I've loved Sherlock Holmes ever since I was a teenager. He's one of those timeless characters that everyone loves. He's enigmatic, intelligent and witty. I think most actors would relish the chance to play him."
With a renewed interest in the character thanks to the recent movie starring Robert Downey Jnr and the BBC series featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, the adventures of Holmes and Watson are finding a newer, younger audience.
"I think it's great that they've updated Sherlock for modern times," says Terry. "It just shows what a great character he is - whatever time or situation you place him in, he just gets on with the job of solving crimes in his inimitable way.'
These new audio dramas will be written by Alexa Chipman and based on the Orson Welles radio plays. Alexa has updated the 1939 script to modern times using contemporary language and settings. It will be released for the 2011 Summer Season of Sonic Society.
Terry is an author, illustrator and actor. His most recent project - Kangazang! - is available to buy from www.kangazang.co.uk
